Incremental Encoder

The Incremental Encoder IP processes 2 or 3 digital inputs from an incremental encoder to generate the motor electrical angle.

In 3-channel mode, the index channel is used to reset the counter at every mechanical revolution, preventing the accumulation of missing or extra pulses that may occur in simple 2-channel mode.

An internal digital filter with linear interpolation generates intermediate angle values to reduce torque ripple when using low-resolution encoders on motors with a high pole-pair count.
